TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona Women’s Tennis team (6-6, 0-1) defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-8), 7-0, Sunday at Robson Tennis Center, snapping a six-match losing streak.

Doubles play began as UA seniors Dianne Hollands and Maja Mlakar came back from their first defeat of the year by beating Ida Malmberg and Lindsay Risebrough, 8-0, at the one.  In the No. 3 position, former Golden Gopher senior Kelly Perry and sophomore Jessie Rochefort knocked off Marina Bugaenco and Danielle Mousseau, 8-2.  Arizona’s only loss on the day came in the second position when Minnesota’s Jane Anderson and Nischela Reddy defeated junior Stephanie Balzert and sophomore Kasia Jakowlew, 8-4.

The Wildcats swept singles play, beginning with Hollands’, 6-4, 6-3, victory over Reddy, at the one and Mlakar’s, 6-1, 6-1, win over Anderson in the second position.  All told, UA won all six singles matches, only one match going three sets.

The Cats will next play at home March 25 against UCLA, before taking on Southern California the following afternoon.  Next weekend’s matches will count towards Pacific-10 standings and will conclude UA’s seven-match homestand.
