The Arizona men's tennis team defeated the Utah Utes, 5-2, on Monday improving their record to 2-0 in dual meets. Leading the way for the Cats were UA sophomore Whi Kim and junior Tom Lloyd. In singles play Kim outlasted Utah's Corrie Sheepers, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Lloyd earned a victory over Utah's Daniel Lohff, 6-3, 6-2. UA's Lloyd and Kim teamed up in doubles and beat Utah's Daniel Carlsson and Tyler Poulson, 8-6.
In other singles play on Monday, Arizona senior Capriati topped Utah's Nik Yip in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 4 singles spot, UA sophomore Carl Hagman tripped up Utah's Carlsson, 6-0, 6-2. Wildcat sophomore Roeland Bratianu pulled out a victory over Utah's Poulson, 6-4, 6-4.
The Wildcats continue action Friday Feb. 8 at home when they face Northern Arizona University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
