Arizona sophomore volleyball setter Paige Weber was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
This was the first time since 2002, the Wildcats have had a member on the second team when Lisa Rutledge earned the honor. It is also the second year in a row that Arizona had three players on the list.
Weber made the squad as a pre-business student with a 3.79 GPA and she is the only Wildcat to have played in every set of this season and also didn’t miss a set in 2007. The Indianapolis, Ind. native just recorded her 1,000 assist of 2008 and moved into seventh on the Wildcats’ career assists list with 2, 338.
Goodenough earned honorable mention for the second straight year. Coming off a back injury, the senior outside hitter has 85 kills and 26 blocks after missing the first half of the season.
Bannister was named to the team in her first year of eligibility. Hailing from Frankfurt, Germany, the redshirt freshman has been an asset off the bench as a middle blocker for the Wildcats.
The three Wildcats earn academic honorable mention last season were Goodenough, , Katie Jackels and Dominique Lamb.
Arizona takes to the road this weekend for its final regular season matches. The Wildcats play at Washington Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and head to face Washington State Saturday night at the same time.
