Friday action in the Worth tournament:

(UA scheduled to play at 3 and 5 p.m.)

9 a.m. - Oklahoma State (visitor) vs. Stanford

No. 8 Stanford (12-2) used the long ball to take care of Oklahoma State (9-5) in the first game of the Worth Wildcat Invitational, 10-0.

Jessic Allister homered to left on the heels of a two-run home run by Lauren Lappin to give Stanford a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

A walk and two hits set up a grand slam for Catalina Morris in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 7-0. A subsequent hit by Lappin chased OSU starter Jessica Hoppock (6-2). A double by Allister greeted reliever Kristen Neil and drove in SU's eighth run.

Shanel Scott singled and Courtney Totte doubled to put runners in scoring position in the OSU third, but SU pitcher Dana Sorensen ( 7-2) retired the next three batters to end the threat.

Michelle Thiry knocked a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to make it 10-0. The game ended an inning later on the eight-run rule.

Game 2 - South Florida (visitor) vs. Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State rebounded from a 10-0 to Stanford with a 3-2 victory over No. 22 South Florida in UA's Worth Wildcat Invitational tournament Friday.

Oklahoma State scored an unearned run in the first with some base running but no hits. Courtney Totte walked, then stole second and advanced to third on a bad throw from the catcher. After a second out, Crystal Lee walked. They worked a double steal, bringing Totte home for the 1-0 lead.

USF took the lead in the top of the third. Kattrina Dowd hit a one-out solo home run, Shelly Riker walked and moved up on Holly Groves' single, then scored on Sarah Watson's single in the hole at deep second.

OSU (10-5)answered with an RBI single by Stephanie Nicholson to tie the game, 2-2, in the bottom of the inning.In the bottom of the fifth, the Cowgirls regained the lead when Totte walked and scored all the way from first on a single to right center by Stephanie Nicholson.

Jessica Hoppock (7-2) limited USF (15-3) to six hits in earning the victory.

Game 3 - Boston University (visitor) vs. South Florida

Boston University hung on to its lead despite a late rally by South Florida and beat the No. 22-ranked Bulls, 4-3, in Worth Wildcat Invitational softball play Friday afternoon.

BU (5-6) took a lead in the third, thanks to a pair of South Florida errors. With one out, Heather Cassidy reached second on a throwing error by pitcher Danielle Urbanik and Jamie Haas reached on a muff by second baseman Kattrina Dowd. Both scored on a triple Abbey Pauley.

Chiya Louie followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. Liz Alley doubled, and moved to third on a single by DeKenya Williams to force a pitching change, and USF reliever Kasey Cash struck out Erin McDonald to end the rally.

Josey Mendez pulled an RBI double down the left field line in the top of the sixth to score Williams and give BU its other run. Urbanik (4-1) gave up only six hits, but was tagged with her first loss of the year.

BU's Ashlee Freeman had allowed only one hit through six innings before USF came up with a double by Carmela Liwag, a single by Christie Chapman and a three-run home run by Tiffany Stewart to gets its runs in the bottom of the seventh. USF dropped to 15-4 overall and 0-2 in tourney play.
