BERKELEY, Calif. - For the second day in a row, the No. 1 Arizona softball team took No. 4 Cal into extra innings, coming out on top, 3-2. The win marked the Cats' seventh Pac-10 game without a loss and stretched their overall record to 43-1.

Arizona took an early lead in the top of the second, when Kristie Fox singled with one out and took second on an error by Cal catcher Haley Woods. Jackie Coburn followed with a single to right, scoring Fox.

Cal tied the game in the third inning, when second baseman Jessica Pamanian reached on a fielder's choice with one on and one out. Shortstop Chelsea Spencer also reached on a fielder's choice, advancing Pamanian to second. With two out, first baseman Roni Rodrigues reached base on an error by Arizona second baseman Samantha Quintero, scoring Pamanian and tying the game at one apiece.

Arizona took the lead again in the fifth when Autumn Champion was hit by a pitch with two out. Wendy Allen reached on a Cal error, advancing Champion to third. Mackenzie Vandergeest and Fox drew back-to-back walks, scoring Champion and putting the Wildcats up, 2-1.

In Cal's half of the fifth, an error by Arizona right fielder Crystal Farley allowed Cal centerfielder Kaleo Eldredge to score an unearned run from home and tie the game.

Both teams remained tied up into the top of the eighth, until Lowe reached on a fielder's choice with two out. Champion followed with a single to short, and Allen walked to load the bases. Lowe scored from third on a wild pitch by Cal pitcher Kelly Anderson to give the Cats a 3-2 lead. In Cal's half of the eighth, Hollowell struck out the side to end the game in favor of the Cats.

Arizona will be on the road again next week, when the Cats travel to Oregon State and Oregon on April 23-25.
