Freshman Natasha Marks defeated California's Marina Cossou 6-2, 7-5 Saturday in the semifinal round of the Pac-10 Championships, and will face USC's Amanda Fink for the title.
Marks' impressive run to the title round started when she upset Arizona State's Kelcy McKenna 6-2, 6-4 in the opening round. In round two she came out on top over Washington's Samantha Smith with a 6-2, 6-3 win before defeating California's Bojana Bobusic 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinal round.
"Natasha has raised her game this week to the level we knew she was always capable of." Said head coach Vicky Maes, "What is exciting is that she will continue to get better in the next few years. We hope she can step up one more time in the finals tomorrow. Bringing home the Pac-10 title would be such a great feat for her and a deserving confidence booster going into next year."
Tomorrow's match will be aired on Fox Sports Net, information on times to follow.
