The No. 2 Arizona softball team completed the second day of the Red Raider Classic with a 6-0, win over Wichita State (11-6) and a 10-0, win over Texas Tech (11-19).
The Cats played Wichita State in the first game of the day. Freshman Alicia Hollowell pitched seven innings for the Cats. She struck out six and gave up three hits.
Arizona went up 2-0 in the first inning with runs by freshman Autumn Champion and sophomore Courtney Fossatti. Senior Lovie Jung hit her 14th home run of the season in the fourth inning. Arizona faced host team, Texas Tech in the second game of the day. A two-run home run by Vandergeest put the Cats up 2-0, in the first inning. Sophomore Jackie Coburn also hit a home run in the inning.
The Cats scored five runs in the third inning. Junior Wendy Allen opened the inning with a home run. Vandergeest's two-run double helped the Cats go up 10-0.
Allen was the winning pitcher for the Cats. Allen improves to 9-0 on the season. Arizona improves to 25-2.
Arizona hasn't given up a run since Feb. 22 against Virginia. The Cats have had 10 consecutive shutouts.
The Cats complete the Red Raider Classic tomorrow when they take on Texas Tech at 11:30 p.m.
