TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men’s golfer Brian Prouty was named to the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars team, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Prouty, a senior-to-be from Tucson, Ariz., was one of 99 NCAA Division I student-athletes named to the team.  In order to be named to the GCAA All-American Scholars team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and post a stroke average lower than 76.0 during the season.  Only juniors and seniors are eligible for consideration.

Prouty ranked fifth on the UA squad with a 73.12 stroke average in 34 rounds played in 2005-06.  He collected two top-10 finishes and one top-20 finish in 11 tournaments played, while carding 14 rounds at par or better in his junior campaign.  Prouty’s best finish and low tournament tally occurred April 8-9 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, where he placed third with a three-round 205 (-8) total.  Both efforts were career bests.
