TUCSON - Game 5 - Worth Wildcat Invitational - Stanford at Arizona

Wendy Allen drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk to drive in the winning run in Arizona's 2-1 victory over Stanford Friday night in Worth Wildcat Invitational softball play.

UA, which had been held to one hit by SU's Laura Severson though six innings, got a big second one from Crystal Farley to start the rally.

Farley hit a two-out single, Caitlin Lowe drew a walk, then both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Severson (3-1) walked Autumn Champion to load the bases for Allen.

Arizona stayed unbeaten at 18-0 with the two hits. The Cats had less than nine hits in a game only once this year, with six against Mississippi on Feb. 6.

UA's Alicia Hollowell held Stanford to four hits and struck out 12 to earn her 12th victory.

UA's speed helped produce a run in the third. Lowe reached on an infield error to open the inning. Champion beat out a bunt and Lowe advanced to third on a wide throw at first. After Champion stole second, Allen hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Lowe.

The Cardinal came right back with a walk by Katherine Hoffman, a Laurin Lappin sac bunt that UA mishandled and an infield hit by Jessica Allister to load the bases with one out. But Champion raced in for a sliding catch on Meghan Sickler's sinking liner in left field for the second out, and Hollowell struck out Michelle Thiry for the third one to thwart the rally.

Hollowell held the Cardinal scoreless until Sickler led off the Stanford seventh with a home run to left field to tie the game at 1-1.
