Head coach Niya Butts and the Arizona women’s basketball team (7-3) will host Longwood (3-6) to close out the non-conference season on Thursday, Dec. 20 at McKale Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Wildcats are coming off an 81-49 win over Weber State on Sunday, Dec. 16. Four players scored in double figures in the game, with senior Davellyn Whyte (Phoenix, Ariz.) leading the way with 19 points.
In addition, junior Kama Griffitts (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) dished out five assists and recorded six steals.
The Lancers come to Tucson for their sixth-consecutive road game. Under 11th-year head coach Bill Reinson, Longwood has won its last two games to improve its record to 3-6.
Senior guard Chelsea Coward leads the team with 15.3 ppg. In addition, Coward is leading the team in rebounds with a 9.4 mark. Guard Crystal Smith is also averaging double-digit scoring for Longwood with 13.9 ppg.
As a team, the Lancers dish out 12.3 assists to 19.2 turnovers, shoot .356 from the field, .301 from behind the arc and .669 from the free-throw line.
The teams will meet for the first time in the history of the program.
