2005-06 Season: Was a three-time first team All-American... Swam the first leg of the first-place 400 medley relay at the 2006 NCAA Championships. Also finished third in both the 100 (46.67) and 200 back (1:41.31)...Finished second in the 200 back at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships (1:42.71), while placing third in the 100 back (47.91) and 17th in the 100 fly (49.51)... Against Arizona State, won both the 100 and 200 back while swimming the first leg of the second-place 200 medley relay... Won the 100 back (49.25) and the 200 back (1:45.36) against Texas, while swimming the first leg of the first-place 400 medley relay... Finished second in the 100 back against California (48.32)... Finished first in the 400 IM (3:12.89) against Stanford.

 

 

2004-05 Season: Was a first team All-American in two events and Honorable Mention in one event... Was responsible for two individual all-time best performances at Arizona... At the NCAA Championships, finished seventh in the 100 back (47.50) and ninth in the 200 backstroke (1:42.65)...Also swam the first leg of the third-place 200 medley relay team.. At the Pac-10 Championships, finished seventh in the 200 back (1:46.43) and also in the 200 back... Won the 200 back (1:49.33) against ASU... Won the 200 back (1:45.48) and finished third in the 100 back (49.39) against SMU and Texas... Against Stanford, finished third in the 200 back (1:49.22) and was also fourth in the 200 fly (1:53.98)...  Finished second in the 200 back against California (1:49.21)... Finished first in the 200 fly (1:52.99) and was second in the 100 back (50.13) against Northwestern and Washington... Also finished second in the 200 back with a time of 1:48.91... Swam the first leg of the winning 400 medley relay against British Colombia... At the Texas Invitational, swam the first leg of the first-place 200 and 400 medley relay, placed third in the 100 back (48.11) and finished fourth in the 200 back (1:45.19)... Against USC, swam the first leg of the first-place 400 medley relay and finished second in the 100 back... Against Wisconsin, won the 200 back (1:49.27) and was second in the 100 back (50.21)...

 

Prep: Four-year letterwinner in swimming...Team Most Valuable Athlete four years in a row... Team captain in 2003 and 2004... Holds school records in the 100 back, 100 fly and 100 free... Was first team all-conference, all-city and all-district in 2003 and 2004... Made the Division 1 All- State Team his senior year...Was awarded the Cincinnati Hill League Swimmer of the Year Award in 2002 and 2004...Southwestern Ohio Swim League Swimmer of the Year in 2003...Was the 2004 state champion in the 100 back and also finished second in the 100 fly... Competed with the Cincinnati Aquatics Club where he holds seven team records.

 

Personal: Born Nicholas Brewer Thoman on March 6, 1986, in Cincinnati, Ohio...Son of Henry Thoman and Kathy Brewer... Grandfather, Richard Thoman, was a world record holder in the 100 back in the 1940s...Has one older sister, Victoria...Major is undecided.
