AUSTIN, Texas -- The Arizona women's soccer team was defeated by the Texas Longhorns in double overtime, 2-1, on Sunday evening.

The Cats, now 3-2, played what Head Coach Dan Tobias called "a great game."

"I am proud of the team," said Tobias. "Their performance and their effort were both fantastic."

In the 29th minute, team captain and senior forward SALLY THURNER connected with freshman forward RENAE CUELLAR who netted her third goal of the season.

Cuellar remained the game's lone scorer until the 57th minute with Texas forward Courtney Goodson scored her third goal of the season. The two teams remained knotted at the end of regulation and proceeded to the first and second overtime.

In the game's 105th minute Texas' Goodson scored her second goal of the game, fourth of the season, to lift the Longhorns pass the Cats.

Arizona looks to bounce back Friday, Sept. 12, against Texas Tech (3-1-1) in Lubbock, Texas, 7 p.m. CT.
