This Week for the Wildcats: Arizona will play host to the Nevada Wolf Pack at 1:30 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 19. On Saturday, the Cats will host the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at 10 a.m.
Perfect Starting at Home: Arizona has not lost its first home dual match of the season since 1994. With the exception of three years ago, the Wildcats have won each of their first two home matches in every season since 1994.
Against Nevada: This is the first series meeting between the two schools.
Scouting the Wolf Pack: Sylvain Malroux returns for his second year at Nevada. Last season he led the team to a 14-10 record, the second-most wins in school history. The team returns six players from that squad and welcomes three freshmen. Leading the Wolf Pack are Caroline Bailly and Maria Mizyuk who are ranked No. 39 in doubles.
Against Northern Arizona: The Wildcats have never lost to Northern Arizona taking a 13-0 advantage in the series.
Scouting the Lumberjacks: Kim Bruno is in her second season leading NAU. Last year, she led the team to a 10-10 record. The team includes nine returnees and two transfers.
Wildcats in the Rankings: The Wildcats start their season ranked No. 34 as a team. Arizona also has two pairs ranked at doubles. Danielle Steinberg and Juliette Mavroleon are ranked at No. 40, while Kasia Jakowlew and Camelia Todorova follow closely behind at No. 43.
Fall Action: Arizona found most of its success in doubles during the fall season. Kasia Jakowlew earned a 7-2 record in doubles while paired with Camelia Todorova (3-1) and Natalia Toporowska (4-1). Juliette Mavroleon and Danielle Steinberg went 3-0 in doubles action. Steinberg had the most success in singles play during the fall finishing at 5-3.
Next Week: Arizona will travel to Colorado and Denver. The Wildcats will face the Buffaloes at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. Arizona will take on the Pioneers at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
