WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--University of Arizona players Paul Vassallo, John Bonano, Carter Lees and Jared Tevis earned Pac-12 All-Academic Football Team honors today.

Vassallo and Bonano were named to the first team, with Lees and Tevis earning second-team distinction. UA also had two players named honorable mention, junior guard Trace Biskin and senior receiver David Roberts.

Bonano, the placekicker selection, is a repeat first-team honoree, winning the nod in 2010. He's a UA senior who will return for a fifth year of eligibility in 2012 and carries a 3.90 GPA in physiology.

Vassallo, a senior linebacker, has a 3.48 cumulative GPA in a public health curriculum, redshirt freshman offensive guard Lees was cited for his 3.42 GPA in retailing and consumer science, and redshirt freshman defensive back Tevis is a 3.33 business student.

UA had four or more selections for the second consecutive year, with Anthony Wilcox, Jake Fischer, Bonano, Adam Hall and R.J. Young earning All-Academic honors last year. Wilcox, Fischer and Bonano were 2010 first-team selections.

Nine league schools were represented on the All-Academic first teams (by position) including UA (2), Stanford (2), UCLA (1), California (4), Utah (5), Colorado (2), Oregon (3), Oregon State (2) Washington (2), and Washington State (2). Bonano was one of seven repeaters.
