TUCSON, Ariz.- Philip Bagdade recorded his fourth top 20 finish, three of those coming in the top ten, Tuesday when he improved to 19th place in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, contested at the Talking Stick Golf Club, a par 70, 7,133 yard course in Scottsdale, Ariz.  


UC Davis earned its third consecutive victory in the tournament, running away with it in the third round. When the teams teed off this morning, Northwestern and Oregon State trailed UC Davis by only two strokes, but the Aggies shot a 267 (-13) in the third round, a tournament record, to cruise to victory. Their total score of 825 (-15) is also a tournament record. The battle for second place was won by Oregon State. The Beavers finished sixteen strokes behind UC Davis. At two over, UTEP finished third. San Diego shot a 843 (+3) and finished fourth. Fresno State shot par on day three, keeping it in fifth. Northwestern, which was tied for second to start the day, dropped to sixth following its 289 (+9) performance on Tuesday.


Three UC Davis golfers finished in the top six, including tournament champion Austin Graham, who shot a 204 (-6) on the tournament. He was able to beat out day one leader Morten Madsen of Oregon State. Madsen led by four strokes heading into the round, but struggled to a 72 (+2) dropping him to second, one stroke behind Graham. UC Davis’ Nate Pistacchio tied for third with Roger Sloan of UTEP. The duo finished at 206 (-4). The third UC Davis competitor in the top six was Ramie Sprinkling, who tied Gunner Wiebe of San Diego for fifth.


Bagdade shot par in round three, improving him to 19th. Kenji Hernandez finished in a tie for 58th with his score of 219 (+9) in the event. Tom Conran improved from 79th to 73rd. John Kostis shot a 226 (+16) and finished in 92nd. Andrew Kelly moved up ten places on the leader board. He finished in 100th.


This event concludes to 2008-09 campaign for the JV team, which included six events, highlighted by a second place finish in the Cactus Thaw, hosted by Western New Mexico. The Cats Varsity team will head Tempe for the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, April 10-11 in its last event before post season play begins.
