TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The No. 2 Arizona softball team lost its second Pac-10 game in as many weeks to No. 13 Oregon State on Friday, 1-0. The Beavers improved their win streak to 20 games while remaining undefeated in the Pac-10.
Alicia Hollowell got her third loss despite striking out 11 and only allowing 4 hits. Hollowell’s record falls to 20-3.
The only run of the game came in the top of the sixth inning, when Beavers shortstop Mia Longfellow singled to right with one out. Designated hitter Cambria Miranda followed with a single down the left field line and both runners advanced on a wild pitch by Hollowell. First baseman Vanessa Iapala walked to load the bases, and Longfellow scored on another wild pitch by Hollowell, who had three on the night.
With the loss Arizona’s record falls to 29-4 overall, 3-2 in the Pac-10. The Wildcats will be in action again tomorrow night at 6 p.m. against Oregon at Hillenbrand Stadium. That game will be televised on ESPN2.
