Tucson, Ariz. (Nov. 14) - University of Arizona women's soccer player Candice Wilks has earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 laurels, announced the Conference office on Wednesday.

Wilks, a freshman forward from Altadena, Calif., finished the 2001 season as Arizona's leading scorer with eight goals and three assists (19 points). She was a starter in all 18 matches and led the team in shots, with 48. Wilks also posted a team-best two gamewinning goals during the season.

Her eight goals is the UA's highest individual single season total since 1995, and her points total is the best in six years as well. Her 48 shots ranks eighth on Arizona's single season top performances list in that category. Wilks is also the first player in two years to post more than one gamewinning goal in a season.

She was named Pac-10 Soccer Player of the Week on Oct. 22 as well after leading the Cats to a first-ever sweep of the Oregon schools.

Arizona ended the 2001 season with 5-12-1 overall and 2-7-0 Pac-10 records. As a team, the Cats set or tied 23 school records, including a new record for most points in a season (80). The two conference victories were the most for the program since 1997.
