?

Arizona Head Coach Tad Berkowitzˇ? will begin his third season at the helm for the Wildcats . He currently has a record of 28-34.? Berkowitz joined the program in 2004?and has held numerous national and collegiate coaching positions. He was promoted to the head coaching position in the spring of 2005 after serving as hall-of-famer Bill Wright's assistant.? Berkowitz, 33, was a top collegiate player for the universities of Kentucky and New Mexico, respectively.? Berkowitz began his coaching career in 1999?as an assistant coach at Alabama for three seasons. In his final year he helped the Crimson Tide earn a No. 18 national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championships.? He is assisted by Tom Lloyd, who is in his second year in that capacity.

?

Scouting the Bruins: ?Arizonaˇ?s first scheduled meeting with UCLA was rained out in Los Angeles so this will be the first time the squads will face each other. The Bruins are ranked fifth in the ITA collegiate poll. The Bruins are led by Harel Srugo.

?

The Series vs. UCLA: ?The Cats have never beaten the Bruins. UCLA holds a 60-0 advantage over Arizona

?

Scouting the Trojans: ?Last time the two teams met, USC pulled out a 7-0 victory though the score was not a good indicator on how close play was. The Trojans narrowly got the doubles point, then won all the singles with four courts going three full sets. The Trojans are ranked sixth overall and led by Robert Farah and Kaes Vant Hof.?

?

The Series vs. USC: ?The all-time series vs. USC is 80-2. Coach Berkowitz defeated the Trojans in his first year as head coach.

?

Last Time Out: ?Arizona got a split on the weekend as they lost to No. 23 Washington 3-4, then came back on Sunday to beat Oregon 6-1 for the teamˇ?s first Pac-10 win.

?

Shining Seniors: ??Seniors Bruno Alcala and Claudio Christen are playing some of the best tennis of their collegiate careers. Alcala is unbeaten in his last six matches and has a dual match record of 13-3. Christen, ranked No. 74 overall, has won his last three matches including two victories over ranked opponents in No. 2 Alex Clayton and No. 82 Patrik Fischer.

?

Some New (Volunteer) Coaching Help: ?This year Arizona is pleased to have ATP all-pro Taylor Dent as a volunteer assistant coach throughout the season.? Dent, who was ranked as the No. 21 player in the world on August 8th 2005, suffered a back injury which caused him to miss most of the past seasons. After having successful surgery, Dent was contacted by good friend and former coach Tom Lloyd, now an assistant with Arizona, who extended the coaching invitation.? Dent, while working on rehabbing his back, will coach the Wildcats on specific and individual techniques. Dent is known as an aggressive serve-and-volleyer with one of the biggest serves on the tour, tying Andy Roddick for the record of fastest serve at 155 mph.
