WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The Pacific-10 Conference announced today that the Arizona-Arizona State game will be televised regionally by ABC on November, 28. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
The Wildcats and Sun Devils will battle for the Territorial Cup, the nation’s oldest NCAA-sanctioned trophy. The prize was first awarded after the first meeting between the teams in 1899, and was recovered in 2001 after being misplaced and later replaced by other trophies.
The UA-ASU rivalry game will be the second of three-consecutive UA games to be televised by ABC to close the year. The Wildcats’ Nov. 21 game against Oregon will be shown on ABC, either at 1:30 p.m. or 6 pm., which will be determined as early as this coming Sunday. After the Nov. 28 game at Arizona State, the Wildcats will travel to Los Angeles to take on the USC Trojans in a game that will be televised by ABC at 12:30 (PT) to a minimum 51 percent of the nation.
Earlier this season, UA lost at Iowa, 27-17, in a game televised by ABC, which is a part of the ESPN Family of Networks. Arizona played the final two games of the 2008 season on the ESPN Family of Networks, winning against the Sun Devils and in the Las Vegas Bowl against BYU, 31-21.
The Wildcats (6-2, 4-1 Pac-10), who are a half-game out of first place and tied in the loss column with Oregon atop the Pac-10 standings, travel to Berkeley, Calif., this Saturday to take on the California Golden Bears (6-3, 3-3 Pac-10). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. (PT) and game be seen on the Versus Network.
