TUCSON , Ariz. ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s and womenˇ?s golf teams had a total of five student-athletes named to the Pacific-10 Conferenceˇ?s All-Academic teams, the league announced Friday.

?

Mary Jacobs was a first-team selection on the womenˇ?s team, while Trey Denton and Brian Prouty were second-team honorees for the men.? Additionally, Alison Walshe and Nicholas Park were honorable mention picks.

?

Jacobs, a 5-foot-7 junior from Godfrey, Ill., earned first team kudos after ranking second on the team with a 74.73 stroke average in 37 rounds played.? She had seven top-20 finishes to her credit to go with a low round of 69 this season.? Jacobsˇ? best finish was a tie for eighth place at the Stanford Pepsi Invitational in October.? She was UAˇ?s top finisher at the NCAA Championships.? Jacobs is a psychology major with a 3.50 grade point average.

Denton, a 5-foot-10 junior from Canton, Miss., claimed second-team honors after collecting a 73.90 stroke average in 21 rounds played.? He had a low round of 68 and posted eight rounds at par or better.? Dentonˇ?s best finish this season was a tie for 27th place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate where he carded a one-under 212 total.? Denton is a regional development major with a 3.44 GPA.

Prouty, a 6-foot native of Tucson, Ariz., garnered second-team academic kudos after posting a team-leading 71.87 stroke average in 31 rounds played.? He had three top-10 finishes to his credit to go with Arizonaˇ?s low round (62) and low tournament total (199/-14) this season.? Prouty claimed individual medalist honors, Jan. 30, at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate in what was the UA menˇ?s only individual victory this season.? He ranked second on the team with 15 rounds at par or better, including eight in the 60s.? Prouty is an economics major with a 3.30 GPA.

The Arizona women closed the 2006-07 campaign with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, while the Wildcat men claimed 24th place at the national championship event.

To be eligible for inclusion on the conferenceˇ?s All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and either be a starter or significant contributor.
