TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona football game to be played at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., on October 16 will be televised nationally by the Versus Network with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff scheduled.
It will be the second consecutive game broadcast by Versus, as the network will carry this weekend's UA-Oregon State game this weekend in Tucson. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. for UA's annual Family Weekend game.
Next Monday, UA should learn the start time for the October 23 Homecoming game against Washington. There is one Pac-10 TV slot available for that date, with ABC slated to pick between the UA-Washington and Arizona State-California games for a 12:30 p.m. (Pacific Time) start.
If the Homecoming game is not selected for broadcast by ABC next week, UA will have the opportunity to set its own kickoff time with options to broadcast the game on a local distribution basis. Those details will be determined only if and when necessary.
The Wildcats earned a No. 9 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll announced yesterday. It is the school's highest ranking since a preseason No. 4 rank going into the 1999 season, which followed UA's 12-1 season in 1998.
UA players had Saturday and Sunday off over the weekend, but will return to the practice field on Monday evening to resume preparations for the visit by the Beavers, who will be facing their third AP Top-10 opponent of the early season.
Head Coach Mike Stoops is scheduled to hold his weekly news conference with the media at 11 a.m. (MST) this morning in McKale Center.
