Hello Wildcat Fans!

Today was our first day at the National Team tryout in Chula Vista, Calif. We had to get up nice and early this morning to be at the field at 7:30 a.m. for some testing. We split up into two teams: Blue and Red. I was on the Blue team.

First I got tested on my broad jump which I was familiar with because, lucky for me, we get tested on that at the University of Arizona. Next I went to the grip testing and then to the pro shuttle testing. After the three rotations, the two groups switched and we then got tested on our base running.

We were timed running from home to first twice, then from home to home twice. When we were done with testing we then took balls and made throws from our respective positions. Pitchers went first followed by catchers, outfielders, and finally the infield.

We took an hour and fifteen minute break for lunch and then it was back to the field for two afternoon scrimmages. Today I faced former Wildcat Alicia Hollowell and Cat Osterman, who are both amazing and very established pitchers, so I was pretty nervous. It was scary to bat against them because I had watched both of them on TV and idolized them when I was younger, but it was a great and surreal experience.

It was a long and tiring day but with the first day behind us, I'm excited for the days to come.

I'll check in again soon! Bear Down!
