TUCSON-Arizona Wildcat women's tennis made improvements in their second day of play in New Mexico.
In consolation doubles play, Sarah Landsman and Kim Stubbe lost both of their matches, the first against Orsi Golovics and Aimee Oki from NAU, and the second against Stephanie Jasper and Marlena Pietzuch from Boise State. The team of Debora Castany and Susan Mc Rann defeated Doris Berberick and Nikolina Vukadin from Western New Mexico University, but lost to Yumi Hasegawa and Malia Wahinepio from NAU.
In singles play, Landsman won her semi-final match against Elizabeth Ullathorne from Texas Tech and will be competing in the finals tomorrow. In consolation singles Stubbe beat Trierweiler from UTEP. Castany lost to Michaela Oldani from the University of New Mexico. Mc Rann beat Nikolina Vukadin from Western New Mexico University.
"We had another rough day in doubles. It is clear we still need a lot of work in that area," head coach Vicky Maes said. "Singles was better and it's good to see Sarah in the finals. One more day tomorrow and so we look forward to the opportunity to make more improvements."
