Women's Golf Tied for Eighth at NCAA Preview

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -?The Arizona womenˇ?s golf team completed the first round of the Margaret Branch NCAA Preview on Monday, carding a 298 (+6) to stand in a tie for eighth place.

Duke leads the field after carding a five-under 287 through eighteen holes of play, leading UCLA by four strokes. Pepperdineˇ?s Taylor Karle shot a six-under 67 in the first round to lead the field individually.

For the Wildcats, senior Alison Walshe carded a three-under 70 to currently stand in a tie for fifth place. The Westford, Mass., product is only three strokes behind the tournament leader after gathering six birdies in the first round of play.

Freshman Alejandra Llaneza carded a two-over 75 in the first round to tie for 37th place after eighteen holes of play.? Junior Adriana Zwanck is also tied for 36th place after one round of play.

Senior Mary Jacobs is tied for 60th place after carding a 78 (+5) in the first round. One stroke behind is junior Amanda Wilson, who is currently tied for 70th place.

Competing as an individual for the Wildcats is junior Brooke Schneider, who carded an 86 (+13) on Monday and is tied for 90th place.

The tournament continues tomorrow, with a second round tee time scheduled for 8am MDT.
