TUCSON - At the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic, the Arizona Wildcats (4-0, 0-0 Pac-10) will face the No. 8/8 Texas A&M Aggies (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) on Fri., Nov. 26 at 8:30 p.m. CT. On Sat., Nov. 27, the Wildcats will play the Bradley Braves (2-2, 0-0 MVC) at 6:15 p.m. CT.
All Wildcat games can be heard live on KTUC AM 1400. All broadcasts will start 15 minutes prior to tip-off for the pre-game show. The Arizona Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies will meet for the fifth time on Friday. The series is split evenly at 2-2. The last meeting was Nov. 25, 2008 where the Aggies topped the Wildcats, 54-44. The Arizona Wildcats and the Bradley Braves will meet for the first time on Saturday. The Bradley contest marks the Wildcats' second game vs. an MVC opponent this season, with an 81-72 win over Wichita State already under their belts.
The No. 8/8 Texas A&M Aggies are 3-0 to start the season with wins over Arkansas-Little Rock, Rice and Liberty. Under eighth year head coach, senior Danielle Adams is averaging 23.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Junior Tyra White is also averaging 13.0 points per game.
The Bradley Braves are 2-2 to start the season, with wins over Butler and Eastern Illinois and losses to Iowa and Illinois. Under 11th year head coach Paula Buscher, the Braves are averaging 64.5 points per game with senior Raisa Taylor leading the squad with 16.3 points and averaging 34.0 minutes per game. Bradley is also getting an average of 13.0 points per game from sophomore Katie Yohn and an average of 11.0 points per game from junior Latasha Hollingshed.
For the first time since the 2001-02 season, the Wildcat women's basketball team is 3-0 to start the season after a 72-70 at Ole Miss. For the first time since the 1999-2000 season, the Wildcats have opened the season with four-straight victories.
Currently, Wildcat players lead the Pac-10 in four categories: field goal percentage (E. Barnes, 12-20, .600), rebounding (I. Ibekwe, 13-30-43, 10.8 pg), assists (S. Arnold, 29, 7.3 pg) and defensive rebounds (I. Ibekwe, 30, 7.5 pg). Additionally, the squad leads the Pac-10 in rebounding margin (+17.2), defensive rebounds (135, 33.8 pg) and defensive rebound percentage (.754).
