Last week against Oregon State, Karin won the all-around title with a 39.300. She also captured the bars title with a career-high 9.925.

Hey Gymcat Fans!

Our second home meet is coming up this Friday, February 2nd at 7:30pm in McKale Center. We’re still really pumped up from our last home meet, where almost 1,400 fans attended! It was so amazing to have so many people there cheering us on.  This weekend we’re against the Minnesota Gophers for our Breast Cancer Awareness meet.  We ask for people to wear pink to help create awareness of breast cancer in the community. We will be wearing a little pink ourselves. Please come out and not only support us, but the breast cancer cause!

For our first home meet season against Oregon State, we all were really pumped up to show the Wildcat crowd what we are capable of as a team.  It was great to have our entire team together cheering during the meet, injured teammates and all.  Unfortunately during warm-up, our top all-arounder, Aubrey, had a low landing on vault and needed to rest her ankles for this meet.  She hopefully will be back at full strength next Friday. For this meet she was only able to compete bars, so the team had to step up and fill the spots on her three other events.

Step up is exactly what the team did.  Every single routine we put out on the floor was hit, so we went the entire meet without recording a single fall, even counting exhibitions.  I was able to earn a career high on bars, Danielle scored a career high on beam, and Jamie Holton a career high on floor!  Our two competing freshman also earned career highs in the early collegiate careers! It was a great meet for us and we ended up winning against our Pac-10 rival.  It was even better that we did so well in front of a home crowd. Of course there are still plenty of places for us to improve upon so we all are working hard at practice this week on the little things so we can have a meet this weekend that is just as good, if not better, than last Friday.

Thanks again to all the fans that came to the last home meet.  Hearing all the fans cheer always helps us give that little extra! It was great getting to meet a lot of you when we signed posters after the competition.  I hope that everyone comes out this Friday again for our next meet against the Gophers. Remember, it’s for a good cause! So wear your pink and come cheer for the GymCats at 7:30 :o)
