TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona women’s soccer team concludes the 2012 season with a road trip to Tempe, Ariz. to take on in-state rivals Arizona State on Friday, Nov. 2 at 4:00 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

Previous Weekend: Last week, Arizona (6-10-3) was swept by Colorado, 3-0 and defeated Utah 1-0 in a double overtime thriller. In the 3-0 loss to Colorado, Wildcat junior Candace Edwards lead the team with three shot attempts while Jazmin Ponce, Ariel Boulicault and Sheridan Cohen each added a pair of shots. In the 1-0 victory over Utah, junior Shannon Heinzler scored the game-winning goal with two seconds remaining in the second over-time period. Goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman registered 11 saves to shut out Utah.

Noting the Sun Devils: Arizona State (9-8-2) picked up a pair of wins in the previous weekend defeating Utah and Colorado. Junior Devin Marshall leads the Devils with nine goals and freshman Cali Farquharson is right behind her with eight. Farquharson also leads Arizona State with 62 shot attempts with 34 on goal. Goalkeeper Chandler Morris has registered 61 saves for the Devils in 19 matches played.

2012 Goal Tracker: Nine separate Wildcats have scored a goal for the Wildcats thus far in the 2012 season. Jazmin Ponce leads Arizona with eight followed by Ana-Maria Montoya, Susana Melendez, Jessica Culver, Candice Osei-Agyemang and Julia Glanz each with two goals apiece. Brie DeFelice, Alex Smith and Shannon Heinzler have found the back of the net with one goal apiece.

Leading the Pac: Junior forward Jazmin Ponce is still in first place in the Pac-12 for the eighth week in a row registering 83 shots and recording an average of 4.37 shots taken per game. For the third week in a row, goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman leads the Pac-12 in saves with 100.

Welcome to the Show: This season, five freshmen have made their college debuts at Arizona. Defender Sheridan Cohen is the only freshman to have played in all 19 matches registering a total of 14 shots. Forward Hannah Wong has participated in 14 games in her first year recording 12 shots and three assists. Forward Sheaffer Skadsen has played in nine games recording three shots with two on goal. Midfielder Hayley Estopare has participated in 10 games taking two shots. Forward Alexa Montgomery has played in four games in her first year as a Wildcat.

Farewell to the Seniors: Six seniors including Jessica Culver, Kristin Strother, Susana Melendez, Kirstyn Magyar, Ariel Boulicault and Alex Smith will be playing in their final match as Wildcats on Friday against the Sun Devils.

Montoya an Olympian: Junior Ana-Maria Montoya participated in the 2012 London Olympics with the Colombian women’s soccer team this summer and continues to make her mark at Arizona. In 19 games played, Montoya has registered two goals, one assist and has attempted a total of 31 shots with 13 on goal.

Honoring Lexe: Before every match, Arizona wears a pre-game warm-up shirt with the No. 13 in honor of Lexe Selman, a member of UA's 2012 signing class. Selman recently finished up her fourth round of chemotherapy treatment for Leukemia, which she was diagnosed with on April 20 of this year. Vowing to Selman and her family to keep her dreams of playing at the collegiate soccer level alive, Arizona head coach Lisa Oyen has promised to hold a roster spot and number until she is able to play.
