WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- Arizona junior Trevor Crowe has been named the Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. The weekly honor is the second of the season for the Wildcat outfielder and the third in his three-year career at Arizona.
Crowe led the Arizona offense to a weekend sweep over Utah Valley State in the final non-conference series of the season for UA. The left-fielder batted a team-best .538 (7 for 13) with a double, three triples, four RBI, three stolen bases and a series-high seven runs scored. Crowe ended the three-game set with a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .571 on base percentage.
In the 16-0 series-opening win on Friday, Crowe finished with a pair of triples- including one to lead off the game - as part of a 3 for 5, two-RBI and three-run day at the plate. A night later he hit his Pac-10-leading 11th three-bagger of the year while going 3 for 4 with two RBI and three runs scored in helping UA to 12-1 victory.
As a team, Arizona out scored Utah Valley State 35 to 3 over the weekend and finished the series with a .382 batting average, nine doubles, seven triples, three home runs and eight stolen bases.
Crowe’s second weekly award in 2005 brings Arizona’s season total to a conference-best six player/pitcher of the week honorees.
