Rodriquez Advances to Olympic 10-meter Platform Semis

Former Arizona diver Angelique Rodriquez advanced to the semifinals of the women's 10-meter platform diving competition Friday. The Puerto Rican finished 17th in the quarterfinals with a score of 273.36 for her five dives.

Rodriquez, who graduated from Arizona in May 1999, steadily improved throughout the competition. She was in 21st after the first dive, moved to 14th after three and peaked at 12th following the fourth dive.

She will compete in the semifinals of the competition Saturday.

In other Olympic swimming action, former Wildcat Amy van Dyken advanced to the finals of the women's 50-meter freestyle by clocking 25.00, the fourth-best time, in the semifinals.
