TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's soccer team began its preseason training schedule this week, the commencement of three important weeks of practice before the season opener on Friday, Aug. 19, at San Diego State.
This week's activities began with an official check-in day for returnees and newcomers on Tuesday, along with an afternoon photo shoot. The day wrapped up some administrative meetings and a team dinner on the eve of the first day of training.
The Wildcats hit the field early on Wednesday morning for the first official training session of the preseason. The 90-minute morning practice was followed by a weight lifting session in the evening with strength and conditioning coach Corey Edmond.
On Thursday, Arizona is scheduled to host its second training session in the evening at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium. New to the facility this year are brand new lights, a much-welcomed addition to the site that enhances the playing and viewing experience.
Training will continue on Friday with two sessions scheduled - one in the morning and one in the evening.
