Judkins, Shumpert Receive Suspensions

University of Arizona interim head men's basketball coach Russ Pennell today announced that Garland Judkins and D.J. Shumpert have been suspended and will not be in uniform for Sunday's game at Arizona State.

"Garland and D.J. have been suspended for failing to meet team obligations," Pennell said.

Judkins, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound freshman guard from Humble, Texas, is averaging 2.4 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He has seen action in 18 games to date (four starts), and is averaging 12.6 minutes per game.

Shumpert, a 6-foot-6, 177-pound freshman forward from Tucson, Ariz., is averaging 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. He has seen action in three games to date, and is averaging 3.0 minutes per game.

Arizona (18-8, 8-5 Pac-10) will meet No. 14 Arizona State on Sunday, Feb. 22, in Tempe. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. MST and can be seen nationally on Fox Sports Net.
