TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Arizona senior Mallory Miller has been invited to participate at the US Soccer Under 21 Women’s National Team camp, the organization announced on Monday. The camp runs from January 14-21 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Miller is one of 30 collegiate players nationwide to be selected to train with US Soccer in preparation for the Nordic Cup to held during the summer in Norway.
“It’s another well-deserved honor for Mallory,” Arizona head coach Dan Tobias said. “It is a nice recognition not only for her outstanding senior season, but a fine collegiate career as well.”
Miller, who was named the Pac-10’s Most Outstanding Player and an adidas second-team All-American in her final season with the Wildcats, helped lead Arizona to a record of 11-8-3 and to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history in the fall.
UA’s most prolific player to date, Miller owns 12 single season and career school records on offense, including the most career goals (32) and assists (19). She finished the 2005 season as the Pac-10’s leading scorer with 43 points, tallying 19 goals and five assists in 22 games played.
“It’s a great honor to be invited and I was excited when I found out,” said Miller. “It’s an opportunity that not a lot of people get to have. I’m just going to go out there and do the best that I can. I want to make the most of this chance and have fun while doing so.”
