Men?s Tennis Falls at Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. ?- The No. 43 Arizona men’s tennis team was knocked out of the Pac-10 Championships today. No Wildcat doubles pairs were able to win their opening round matches.


In the singles main draw quarterfinals, Jeff Groslimond fell to 23rd- ranked KC Corkery from Stanford in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.


In the main draw of doubles competition, two Wildcat pairs fell. Bruno Alcala and Peter Zimmer lost to third-ranked KC Corkery and James Pade of Stanford, 8-4. California’s Lennart Maack and Dean Wallace upset Arizona’s No. 54 Claudio Christen and Jeff Groslimond, 8-4.


In the quarterfinals of the doubles invitational draw, Nathan Cochrane and partner Francois VanderMerwe fell to Washington’s David Chu and Andy Gerst, 9-8.


Next, Arizona will wait to hear if they have been selected for the 2006 NCAA tournament. The 2006 NCAA Division I men’s selection announcements will take place on Wednesday, May 3 on ESPNEWS. The announcement will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Eastern time.
