Bayless, Budinger tabbed all-Pac-10

TUCSON , Ariz. ?C ?Four University of Arizona menˇ?s basketball players received postseason honors, as the Pacific-10 Conference announced its postseason honors Monday.

?

Jerryd Bayless, Chase Budinger,?Jordan Hill and Jawann McClellan received recognition in voting done by the leagueˇ?s head coaches. Bayless and Budinger were all-Pac-10 honorees, while Hill and McClellan garnered honorable mention kudos.

?

Bayless, a 6-foot-3, 199-pound freshman guard from Phoenix, Ariz., earned second-team all-Pac-10 honors after averaging 20.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 27 appearances. Bayless shoots 46.9 percent (160-of-341) from the field and a team-leading 83.1 percent (172-of-207) from the free throw line. Heˇ?s finished in double figures 24 times this year, including 12 20-point and four 30-point games.??He was also an NABC all-District selection and a member of the 24-man Wooden Award Ballot.

Budinger, a 6-foot-7, 203-pound sophomore forward from Encinitas, Calif., was a third-team all-Pac-10 selection after averaging 17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in 31 appearances. Budinger shoots 43.6 percent (185-of-424) from the field and a leads the team with 67 5 three-point field goals (.370 percentage). He has a team-leading 26 double-figure scoring games to his credit in 2007-08 and has registered one double-double. He was also a second-team NABC all-District 15 selection.

Hill, a 6-foot-10, 226-pound sophomore forward from Atalnta, Ga., was an honorable mention all-Pac-10 and all-Defensive team pick and an after averaging 13.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game in 31 appearances. Hill shoots a Pac-10-leading 61.6 percent (165-of-268) from the field to go with 15 steals. He leads Arizona with eight double-doubles this year and has scored in double figures 22 times. It is the first time he has been honored by the league.

McClellan, a 6-foot-4, 204-pound senior guard from Houston, Texas, was an honorable mention Pac-10 all-Defensive team selection after averaging 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 31 appearances. He shoots 44.3 percent (92-of-209) from the field, ranks second on the team with 20 blocked shots and fourth with 21 steals.??He has 10 double-figure scoring games to his credit and a total of 11 multiple-block or multiple-steal games in 2007-08.

Arizona (18-13, 8-10 Pac-10) will next be in action on Wednesday, March 12, vs. Oregon State at the Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles. The game will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. PDT and will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
