TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team currently sits in ninth place after the first two rounds Friday at the 2011 Pac-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships in Palo Alto, Calif.

Arizona carded scores of 363 and 366 to stand at 729 (+29) through the first 36 holes. The Wildcats managed just one round at par or better on day one of the Championships..

USC posted a 36-hole tally of 709 (+9) and leads the field by one stroke heading into Saturday's third round. Oregon (710) is in second place, while host Stanford (712) rounds out the top three places. UA is one of five teams within eight shots of one another in places five through nine.

Martin Trainer of USC and Alex Moore of Oregon State share the individual lead at four-under 136.

The Wildcats were led by Erik Oja, who carded an opening-round 70 (E) and followed that up with a 72 (+2) to stand in a tie for 14th place at 142 (+2). Stefan Cox posted a pair of two-over 72s and is in a tie for 21st place with a 144 (+4).

Senior Tarquin MacManus is tied for 31st place after shooting 72-74--146 (+6) on Friday. Teammates Juan Pablo Hernandez and Tye Beall are tied for 48th place after totaling 11-over 151 totals on day one of the tournament. Senior Jonathan Khan is in 57th place after carding a 155 (+15) total.

The Pac-10 Men's Golf Championships continue through Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course, a par-70, 6,742-yard layout. Live tournament scoring is available at www.golfstat.com. Arizona's Saturday tee times begin at 10:12 a.m. PDT.
