Women's Golf Ties for 14th Place at NCAA Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team finished in a tie for 14th place at the NCAA Championships, which concluded on Friday.  The Wildcats carded a 310 (+22) in the final round to bring their total score to 1226 (+74) after 72 holes of play.  Duke claimed its third straight NCAA title with a final score of 1170 (+18), fifteen strokes ahead of runner-up Purdue.


Arkansas’s Stacy Lewis claimed the individual crown with a score of 282 (-6).  Lewis carded a tournament low 66 (-6) in the final round to pass Purdue’s Christel Boeljon who had led after rounds two and three.


Sophomore Amanda Wilson had the highest finish for the Wildcats, as the Hilo, Hawaii native tied for 34th place.  Wilson carded a 77 (+5) on Friday to bring her total score to 303 (+15). 


Junior Mary Jacobs tied for 40th place with a 304 (+16) after four rounds of play.  Sophomore Adriana Zwanck was five strokes behind Jacobs and finished in a tie for 65th place.


Junior Alison Walshe tied for 69th place with a score of 310 (+22).


Freshman Brittany Benvenuto tied for 117th place after shooting a 329 (+41) after 72 holes of play.
