Colorado Springs, Colo.--When the first day of the 2010 Air Force Invitational wrapped up the Wildcats had plenty to smile about.

In doubles play senior Jane Huh and junior Sarah Landsman lost their first match to the team of Caitlin Fluegge and Veronika Wojakowska of Colorado State University 8-2, however won their second match 9-7 against Erin Sanders and Carla Manzi of The University of Colorado 9-7. The freshman team of Kim Stubbe and Lacey Smyth won their first match 8-1 against the Colorado team of Krissi Schleich and Michala Jensen. They also won their second match with the Air Force Academy team of Christen Monreal and Anastasia Hueffner 8-4.

In the Alpha 1 singles draw Sarah lost 6-2, 6-3 to Tooli Wilkins of UNC- Greensboro. In Bravo 2 Kim Stubbe won 6-2, 6-3 against Tori Arneson of Colorado State University, Kim also won her second match against University of New Mexico's Michaela Bezdickova 2-6, 7-5, 10-7. In Charlie 3 Lacey Smyth won both of her matches, her first against Eggleston of The University of New Mexico 6-2, 6-2, and her second against Wyoming's Kim Van Ginkel 7-6, 3-6, 10-8. Jane Huh lost her first match in the Delta 4 draw to Michala Jenson from Colorado 6-4, 6-1, but won her second match 6-4, 5-7, 10-3 against Leyla Simmons of Oklahoma State University.

"Overall, the Cats came out strong for the day," Said head coach Vicky Maes. "I was especially impressed with the freshmen. They really did a great job competing and finding ways to win. Sarah and Jane did better as the day progressed, but I'd like to see them a bit more ready from the start tomorrow."
