Wildcat Women Will Be No. 6 Seed in First-Ever Pac-10 Tournament

The University of Arizona women's basketball team, sporting 14-13 overall and 10-8 Pac-10 records, will enter the first-ever State Farm Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament as the No. 6 seed next weekend. The Wildcats will play No. 3 seed Arizona State in the first round on Saturday, Mar. 2, at 2:15 p.m. PST. The Cats are coming off a 72-66 win over the Sun Devils this weekend.

The tournament will run from Mar. 1-4 at McArthur Court on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. The bottom four seeds will have "play-in" games on Mar. 1, then first-round play begins at 12 p.m. PST on Mar. 2, with the No. 2 seed Washington taking on the winner of the game between No. 7 Oregon and No. 10 Washington State.

Second-ranked Stanford enters as the No. 1 seed after going undefeated in conference play for the first time since the 1996-97 season. The Cardinal will play the winner of the No. 8 UCLA-No. 9 California game in the first round at 6 p.m. PST on Mar. 2.

Arizona finished the season in a tie for sixth place in the Pac-10 standings with Oregon, but the Wildcats earned the No. 6 seed through the tie-breaker procedure. Arizona's game against the Sun Devils in the first round of the tournament can be heard live in Tucson on KJLL 1330 AM and over the internet at www.arizonaathletics.com beginning at 2:45 p.m. Tucson time.

Game 1: No. 7 Oregon vs. No. 10 Washington State, 6:30 p.m. PST
Game 2: No. 8 UCLA vs. No. 9 California, 8:45 p.m. PST

Saturday, Mar. 2
Game 3: No. 2 Washington vs. No. 7/No. 10 winner, 12 p.m. PST
Game 4: No. 3 Arizona State vs. No. 6 Arizona, 2:15 p.m. PST
Game 5: No. 1 Stanford vs. No. 8/No. 9 winner, 6 p.m. PST
Game 6: No. 4 USC vs. No. 5 Oregon State, 8:15 p.m. PST

Sunday, Mar. 3
