TUCSON, Ariz. ?C The University of Arizona menˇ?s golf team shot an 18-over-par 306 Saturday and finished in ninth place at the Purdue Midwest Shootout at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.

The tournament was shortened to 18 holes due to thunderstorms in central Indiana and the rain had en effect on the scoring as no team in the field of 16 finished under par. Arizonaˇ?s 306 total placed the team ninth. Michigan claimed the team title due to a scorecard tiebreaker with Bowling Green at 293. Kent State (296), Missouri (301), Purdue and Northern Illinois (302) rounded out the top five places.

Arizona freshman Andrew Kelly was the top-finishing Wildcat, carding a three-over 75 to tie for 17th place. Fellow freshman Tarquin MacManus tied for 28th place at four-over 76. Kelly and MacManus, both natives of Australia, made their college debuts in this event.

Senior Creighton Honeck tied for 36th place at five-over 77, while junior Tyler Neal tied for 46th place at six-over 78. Freshman Roberto Galletti tied for 74th place at 10-over 82.
