Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller

"Every coach has a philosophy for October and November. The Division I scrimmage we had was very helpful to us, and for the Division II match-up it was important for us to choose Augustana College with their Division II All-American point guards. Their level of discipline and physicality was a great test for us for our first time out."

On the game:

"I have nothing negative or positive to say about tonight, but I saw both. We were careless going into the second half, I think we had four turnovers in the first few minutes, and we were unable to break open the game because of it. In the first half, there were times where our offense executed well. Having twenty-one free throw attempts shows that we were the aggressor, but only making eleven will eventually hurt us. We had too many missed opportunities in the first half. I'm not taking anything away from Augustana. They are a very well coached team, and they have a couple point guards that can match up well with a lot of guards in Division I."

"Going to the line thirty-five times is very good, when only going six or eight times shows that were are only taking jump shots and that we aren't being the aggressor. Through the season we will need to have a higher percentage, or going to the line so often and not having the result will start to work against us. We need to be more physical and place the ball where we can draw the foul."

"This is going to be a big week for us. We're looking to improve as we go into our first game of the season, but I do know that we were better this weekend than we were a week ago."

On scoring contributors other than Derrick Williams:

"Kyle Fogg is a double-figure returner, and in 31 games last season, we could depend on him to get the basket. A lot of different players will have to step up. Jamelle Horne can do it, Solomon Hill can do it. We have the number of players to help Derrick (Williams) get the basket. Momo (Jones) didn't have a big night tonight, but we know that he make some big contributions. He has to be a point guard for us. When you come to college as a reserve guard, you think you know everything, but you have to learn, and he has. Momo was the definitely our team's most improved. Tonight wasn't his night, but it was a good learning experience, so we'll take it and move on.

Arizona Player Quotes

Derrick Williams

On the win:

"I thought it was a good game. It's been a long time since we played someone else. We did all right, but we could have done better. They have some players that could play some Division I. We need to work on our free throws and our turnovers. We could have played better."

On his black eye:

"At practice I jumped and (Kyle) Fogg head butted me in the eye. It looks a lot better."

Solomon Hill

On what to improve on:

"We have a lot to work on offensively. We aren't hitting guys on screens. We will look at film and try to do it at practice. Free throws win games, if we would have made them, it wouldn't have been so close."

On what he has worked on:

"I feel like my body was the main focus. I've trimmed down and now my body is on the same page."

On his four assists:

"I thought the lob (to Derrick Williams) would get us going. I thought it would start to pull the game away, but it didn't."

On the win:

"They were relying on a couple guys to score. I think this week will be the best week for practice for us."
