Arizona in Third after day one of the Pac-10 Women's Swimming Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif.- No. 7 Arizona women's swim team is in third place with 110 points, and trails first-place Stanford and California (116) by six points, after the first day of competition at the Pac-10 women's swimming championships.

The 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Jenna Gresdal, senior Jessica Wagner, sophomore Lisa Pursley, and sophomore Marshi Smith finished second, posting an NCAA consideration time of 1:40.49.

In final race of the competition, the 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Katie Willis, junior Jessica Hayes, junior Emily Mason, and freshman Melissa Johnson posted their second NCAA consideration time, taking third place with a time of 7:15.51.

The 2004 Pac-10 Women's Swimming Championship will continue Thursday through Saturday at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Thursday's events include 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and the 200 freestyle relays.
