VICTORIA, British Columbia – Three Arizona Wildcats were named to the 2010 Canadian Pan Pacific Championships team on Sunday for competition later this month. The Pan Pac Games are a quadrennial event between the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan held between an even number of Olympic seasons.

Postgrad Jake Tapp along with sophomore-to-be Chelsey Salli and incoming freshman Lindsay Seemann all qualified for the Canadian roster after the nation’s annual Summer Nationals.

Tapp, from Langley, B.C., is a UA postgrad who completed his eligibility this past spring with multiple All-American honors at the NCAA Championships.  Over the Canadian Summer Nationals, Tapp won both the 50 and 100 meter backstroke competitions for the right to represent his country.

Salli, a rising sophomore in the UA program, followed up a strong freshman season by winning the women’s 100 breaststroke.  Next season, Salli will team with fellow Wildcat sophomore Ellyn Baumgardner to create a 1-2 punch in the women’s breaststroke events.

Seemann, who swam in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and will be a freshman this season in Tucson, qualified for the Pan Pac Games in the 800 freestyle.  Swimming out of Newmarket, Ontario, she will be a welcomed addition to the UA roster in 2010-2011.

The three UA Canadians will likely see a few other American Wildcats at the Pan Pacific Games with the United States holding their own qualifying nationals this week.
