(Feb. 15) - The No. 11 University of Arizona women's gymnastics team dropped a close Pac-10 contest to the No. 21 Oregon State Beavers, 196.475- 195.625, on Friday, in front of a crowd of 2388 in Oregon State's Gill Coliseum. Arizona's team total of 195.625 is the second-highest team score this season and the eighth best mark in team history, while Oregon State's score of 196.475 is a season-high for the Beavers. Arizona fell to 7-3, 2-2 Pac-10, while Oregon State improved to 4-3-1, 2-1-1 Pac-10.
Arizona dropped its first team vault event of the season with a score of 48.925. The Wildcats trailed the Beavers the entire meet, posting team scores of 48.725 on bars and 49.000 on floor. Arizona tied Oregon State on beam at 48.975, which is Arizona's second-highest mark of the season and the eighth-best score in team history. Three Wildcat gymnasts - Nikki Beyschau, Monica Bisordi, and Randi Liljenquist - each set or tied season-high and career-high marks in Friday's meet.
Individually for the Wildcats, senior Randi Liljenquist claimed her second beam title of the year, tying a season-high mark of 9.900. Liljenquist finished third on vault (9.825), tied for third on bars (9.850) and floor (9.850), and finished second in the all-around (39.425). Sophomore Andi McCabe won her fourth vault title of the season with a score of 9.875 and junior Nikki Beyschau tied for fourth on vault with a season-high score of 9.800.
Freshman Monica Bisordi finished third on beam (9.850) and tied for seventh on bars with a season high 9.750. Bisordi finished third in the all-around, tying her season-high mark of 39.125. Freshman Katie Johnson placed fifth on beam (9.800) and tied for third on floor (9.850).
Arizona will return home to take on the Washington Huskies on, Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m., in McKale Center.
