Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at ITA Regionals

TUCSON, Ariz. -

Head coach Vicky Maes and the Arizona women’s tennis team begin competition for the fall season at the ITA Regional tournament beginning Thursday, Oct. 20 and continuing through Monday, Oct. 24.

The USTA/ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players competing in each of the ITA's regions across the country.

Seniors Debora Castany (Barcelona, Spain) and Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England), sophomores Susan McRann (Dublin, Ireland) and Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) and freshman Hailey Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) will compete for the Wildcats.

Four players will compete in doubles play, as Marks and Smyth will team up as well as McRann and Johnson.

Arizona is coming off a successful 2010-11 season, posting a 15-7 record and qualifying for the NCAA Team Championships.
