WALMANALO, Hawaii - The top-ranked Arizona women's golf team came from behind to win the Dr. Thompson Rainbow Wahine Golf Invitational. The Wildcats shot a 289 today, 11 strokes better than the second place team, to finish at 19-over-par 883. Pepperdine finished the tournament in second place (21-over-885) followed by Southern California (33-over-897), Oklahoma State (58-over-922) and Texas Tech (74-over-938). The tournament was held at the Olomana Golf Course on the island of Oahu and is a par-72, 6,075 yard layout.
Sophomore Cristina Baena and senior Jenna Daniels both finished the tournament at 3-under-par 213, Baena took first place after the second hole of the playoff. Freshman Julia Kraschinski tied for 10th place (11-over-par 227), while junior Christina Monteiro finished tied for 17th (14-over-par 230).
The Wildcats next action will be at the Arizona State Ping Invitational, April 7-9, 2000.
