PALOS VERDES, Calif.-Sophomore women's golfer Lorena Ochoa birdied seven of the final 11 holes in Tuesday's second round en route to a new course record of 5-under-par 66 at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Ochoa, who has already won four tournaments this season, stands in first place of the TRW Regional Challenge with 18 holes remaining.

"Lorena played great today just like she always does," said Arizona head coach Greg Allen. "She really turned it on down the stretch. She is just so focused on winning every tournament she plays in."

A victory at the TRW Regional Challenge would mark Ochoa's fifth straight win and extend her streak of consecutive top-three finishes to 14 tournaments. The 5-foot-5-inch star has participated in 16 collegiate events, including non-scoring play at the 2000 College Golf Foundation Match Play Championships, and has won eight of those tournaments and has never finished out of the top 10.

As a team, the Wildcats sit in fourth place after a second-round of 300 and trail first-place Tulsa by 26 strokes.

Freshman Miriam Kraschinski carded her lowest 36-hole total and stands in a tie for 24th place. The freshman from Whitianga, New Zealand, shot a second-round of 5-over-par 76 to bring her two-day total to 151.

"She didn't finish well," Allen said about the lone freshman in the Wildcats' lineup this week. "She could have and should have played better down the stretch."

Juniors Laura Myerscough, Julia Kraschinski and Anne Lee are tied for 49th, 69th and 82nd places, respectively.

Tournament play concludes Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
