AUSTIN, Tex. - Arizona finished six shots off the pace to claim 2nd place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, Sunday afternoon at the University of Texas Golf Club.
UCLA won the team championship with a three-day total of 884 (+20) while Arizona ended the tournament at 890 (+26). Texas A&M was seven shots behind the Wildcats for third place while TCU (901) and Texas (907) rounded out the top five.
Freshman Sherlyn Popelka shot the low round of the day for the Wildcats with a 2-over 74 and finished tied with teammate Alejandra Llaneza for 8th place at 6-over 222 for the tournament. Isabelle Boineau and Margarita Ramos were each a shot behind their teammates at 7-over 223 to share 10th place with Tiffany Lua of UCLA.
Sarah Zwartynski of Texas A&M went wire-to-wire to earn individual medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 3-under 213. Marina Alex of Vanderbilt was six shots off the pace at 3-over par while UCLA teammates Stephanie Kono and Brianna Do were each 4-over par.
Arizona plays in its final regular season tournament from April 9-11 at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe.
