, Ariz. – The Arizona baseball team swept its doubleheader against Saint Joseph’s by scores of 17-3 and 12-2 on Wednesday at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium.

Steve Selsky was 7-for-11 on the day with a double, a triple, five runs scored and three RBI, while Jett Bandy continued his torrid start to the season with a 5-for-8 day at the plate, including two doubles.

On the mound, Vincent Littleman picked up the win in Game 1 in his first collegiate start, while Bryce Bandilla earned the victory in game two after tossing three innings in middle relief.

The Wildcats totaled 39 hits in the two games and hit .470 as a team on the day. A total of 11 players scored at least one run and had at least one RBI.

Arizona (8-4) will continue its season-long 26-game homestand with a three-game series this weekend against Northern Colorado. The first game of the series is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday, March 12.

Steve Selsky and Jett Bandy collected four hits each as Vincent Littleman pitched five solid innings in his first career start to spark Arizona to a 17-3 victory over Saint Joseph’s in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings and cruised the rest of the way while rapping out a season-high 23 hits in the game.

The visiting Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after tallying four hits off Littleman. Arizona immediately answered with four in the home half of the inning and five in the second.

Selsky, who finished 4-for-6 in the game, narrowly missed out on the cycle, missing only a home run on his stat line. He scored three runs, drove in three and knocked his first triple of the season.

Bandy was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. He added four runs scored and drove in one.

Littleman tossed five steady innings in his starting debut. The freshman lefty scattered seven hits, struck out five and walked two.

Freshmen pitchers Augey Bill and Michael Lopez saw their first action of the year in relief, while Jared Forestieri made his second appearance.

Rafael Valenzuela scored three runs and Seth Mejias-Brean drove in four as the Arizona offense continued its assault on Saint Joseph’s pitching in a 12-2 victory in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium.

The Wildcats used a more methodical approach to putting runs on the board than they did in the first game, collecting two runs in the first, one in the third and one in the fourth before opening the game up with a six-run fifth inning.

Kyle Simon started the game for the Wildcats and pitched three innings before giving way to the bullpen. Simon allowed just one run on two hits.

Bryce Bandilla came on in relief of Simon and struck out five hitters in three innings of work. The sophomore lefty did not allow a run while earning his second win of the year.

The Wildcats knocked out 16 more hits in the second game. Bobby Rinard, Valenzuela, Steve Selsky, Joey Rickard, Mejias-Brean, and Bryce Ortega all turned in multi-hit efforts at the plate.

Stephen Manthei and Nick Cunningham pitched scoreless innings in relief, while Tyler Hale allowed a lone run in the ninth inning.
