Women?s Tennis Returns from Fall Desert Collegiate Classic

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ?- A pair of Arizona women’s tennis players competed in last weekend’s Fall Desert Collegiate Classic held at the Moore Tennis Academy in Palm Springs, Calif.

 

Freshman Tina Razloznik and senior Stephanie Balzert competed in both the singles and doubles draw, and each posted a 1-1 record.

 

In round one of the singles bracket, Razloznik defeated UC Irvine’s Inna Agababian 6-0, 6-2. Razloznik then fell to Pavia Mesterova of Loyola Marymount University, 6-4, 6-4.

 

Stephanie Balzert defeated Loyola Marymount’s Serena Fermin, 6-2, 6-2. In the round of 16, Balzert was defeated by UCLA’s Tracy Lin, 7-6, 6-3 who was seeded fourth in the tournament.

 

In the first round of the doubles bracket, Balzert and Razloznik took on Serena Fermin and Robyn Baker of Loyola Marymount University and won 8-6. In the quarterfinals Balzert and Razloznik fell to USC’s Diane Matias and Carine Vermeulen, 8-2.

 

The Arizona women’s tennis team next will be in action on Nov. 9 at the second annual Rainbow Wahine Tennis Invitational held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
