TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Red Team, comprised of probable starters, defeated the Blue Team, comprised of substitutes and two male players, 3-1 (30-24, 30-18, 26-30, 30-28) in the first of two scrimmages the Arizona volleyball team will have in preparation for the upcoming season.
Senior Kim Glass led all players with a double-double -- 14 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Randy Goodenough also tallied a double-double, finishing with 14 kills and 11 digs. Senior Bre Ladd added 11 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore Dominique Lamb had 11 kills and five blocks. Junior Kristina Baum rounded out the group of players in double-digit kills with 10, to go along with 11 digs.
Junior setter Stephanie Butkus dished out 45 assists for the Red Team, while sophomore Amy Dyck tallied 32 assists for the Blue squad. Butkus also added nine kills.
UP NEXT: The team will hold another scrimmage at 3 p.m. next Saturday, Aug. 27, in McKale Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
